How does valerian work?
After smelling or eating valerian, the cat falls into a state of excitement: it plays, rolls and goes crazy. After about 10-20 minutes, the effect wears off and he may feel drowsy, which is completely normal because he is relaxed. If your cat responds well to valerian, you can use the preparation to reduce stress levels during travel or after a situation in which the cat has experienced psychological discomfort, such as during a visit to the veterinary clinic. To do this, place a pinch of valerian in your pet's carrier bag or cage.

If the cat reacts with excessive anxiety or aggression after the first use of valerian, the product should not be used again. This behavior will mean that valerian does not have the intended effect and in that case you should resort to another herbal cat "stimulator". Interestingly, if a cat does not react to catnip, it is more likely that he will like valerian. There is a greater chance that kittens may not react to valerian, as this product is more appreciated by adult cats.
